ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A Rochester woman whose five-year-old died in a 2024 house fire was arrested on felony weapons charges following a Livingston County Sheriff’s Office investigation into a Sept. 19 motor vehicle crash, authorities said.
Deputies responded to a crash on Route 39 in Geneseo, where a handgun was found in the vehicle. None of the occupants had valid New York State pistol permits, and the gun was not registered in the state. Investigators traced the handgun from South Carolina to Virginia before it ended up in New York.
On Dec. 4, Sheriff’s Investigator Michael Wade arrested 28-year-old Brianna Akers of Rochester. She faces charges of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree and criminal possession of a firearm, both felonies. Akers was taken to the Livingston County Jail for processing…
