Man electrocuted during alleged copper theft in Jackson: police

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Jackson police said a man was electrocuted while trying to steal copper wiring.

The incident occurred in the 300 block of Greenhill Drive around 4:30 p.m. on December 5, 2025.

According to investigators, the unidentified victim had attempted to climb a utility pole with the possible intention of taking copper wiring. The pole broke, causing the victim to fall to the ground where he was electrocuted.

Police said the victim did not have any identification on his person at the time of the incident. However, he did have an ankle monitor, and detectives are working to identify him…
