Pedestrian struck and killed by garbage truck in south Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — A man is dead after being struck by a garbage truck in south Columbus early Tuesday morning.

According to Columbus police, for unknown reasons, a man was standing in the roadway on Corr Road, in between Parsons Avenue and Lockbourne Road near the Far South train yard. Police said that at 4:02 a.m., an unidentified vehicle veered to its right to avoid the pedestrian, who was standing in the middle of the westbound lane.

Following the vehicle, an adult operating a garbage truck, heading westbound, struck the pedestrian. Police said 52-year-old Kevin Courts was knocked to the ground and was taken to an area hospital in critical condition.

Courts was later pronounced dead at 4:36 a.m. No other injuries were reported…
