A 20-year-old Spartanburg County man, Corban Samuel Vander-Ploeg, remained in the Oconee County Detention Center without bond after deputies arrested him early Tuesday on one count of trafficking THC and two counts of possessing a firearm during a violent crime. Around 1:31 a.m., a patrol deputy discovered Vander-Ploeg sleeping in a gray Mercedes in the closed parking lot of a business on Lakeside Circle near S.C. Highway 11 and I-85; the deputy smelled marijuana, spotted a firearm in plain view, and subsequently located approximately 1,504 THC vape pens (93% concentration), a quantity of marijuana, a loaded .45-caliber Glock 41 with an extended magazine, and a Glock 26 9mm handgun.
