MOBILE COUNTY, Ala. (WKRG) — The Mobile County Commission has voted against a proposal to expand Chastang Sanitary Landfill.

A proposal from Waste Management introduced in November would have nearly tripled the amount of trash allowed in the landfill and would also accept waste from other states.
The company said the proposal would have allowed them to be more competitive with other landfills that accept trash from out of state.
