Man arrested in Placer County is suspected in downtown Sacramento shooting

A 27-year-old man from Southern California was arrested early Sunday in connection with a downtown Sacramento shooting that wounded two people hours earlier, according to the Sacramento Police Department.

The suspect, an Apple Valley resident from San Bernardino County, was taken into custody by California Highway Patrol officers and booked into the Placer County Jail a few hours after the shooting. Authorities said gunfire broke out shortly after 1:30 a.m. near Eighth and K streets, where two adults were shot.
