AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — Andrea’s Project, the Texas Department of Transportation Amarillo District, and the Amarillo Police Department are hosting a stakeholder meeting on their efforts to reduce impaired driving during high-risk times of the year.
According to TxDOT officials, the meeting on Dec. 11 at 4 p.m. will discuss ongoing initiatives and trends related to impaired driving prevention. Officials noted the meeting will be located at the Harrington Cancer and Health Foundation.

The efforts are aligned with TxDOT’s Drive Sober. No Regrets. holiday campaign and the Drive like a Texan: Kind. Courteous. Safe. initiative. Officials add that the stakeholder meeting will include:
- Introduction to APD’s newly launched DUI Unit and early enforcement outcomes
- Overview of TxDOT’s Drive Sober. No Regrets. statewide impaired driving campaign and holiday enforcement efforts
- Prevention and community engagement strategies from Andrea’s Project
- A personal story from Enrique Aguirre, who lost five family members to an impaired driver in December 2021
