A city’s skate community is only as good as its support, not only by product, but by authenticity. Madison has one of the tightest skate communities in the Midwest, with a huge part of that intimacy stemming from a small, yet largely appreciated skate shop called Flying Low.
Flying Low skateshop is represented everywhere in Madison, with boards, T-shirts, stickers and other shop logoed items filling the parks in the city. But again, product availability isn’t what makes a skateshop great. It’s who represents it that keeps riders coming back.
On Nov. 12, Jeffery Halleran, owner of Flying Low Skateshop, was kind enough to open his shop early, and share his experience as a business owner and as a role model in Madison’s skate community.
