Two of Madison mayor’s housing proposals advance to City Council

Two proposals to increase the supply and variety of housing in Madison are close to passing after several tweaks.

New regulations that would promote density within the city’s Transit-Oriented Development Overlay District and allow for cottage courts will head to the City Council Tuesday night after the Plan Commission approved updated versions of each proposal at its Dec. 1 meeting.

The proposals are part of Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway’s Housing Forward initiative, meant to combat Madison’s housing shortage and create a wider variety of housing options for renters or buyers…
