Recent ‘Jeopardy!’ Champion Hit With Felony Charges

Recent Jeopardy! champion Philip Joseph “Joey” DeSena was arrested on December 1 and faces two charges of felony secret peeping . An arrest warrant was issued on November 26 for the 43-year-old who allegedly installed cameras in a family’s home in Currituck County, North Carolina.

DeSena won two episodes of Jeopardy! in November 2024, taking home $44,698 from the popular trivia game show. He made his return to the Champions Wildcard Tournament in early 2025, but was eliminated in the semifinals.

DeSena Arrested in Wake County, North Carolina

Court documents from the Currituck District Court reveal that the crime took place on October 10, 2025, when DeSena allegedly placed a recording device in the bathroom and bedroom of a home “with the intent to capture the image of another without their consent.” DeSena faces one charge for each room in which a camera was later found.

DeSena turned himself into the Wake County Sheriff’s Office on December 1 and was later released on a $5,000 bail. The Raleigh native was also made to offer fingerprints and DNA samples before his release. His first court appearance is expected for Wednesday, December 10…
