DPAC:
Lightening up their schedule, DPAC centers three standout multi-performance runs. First, Theatre in the Park’s “A Christmas Carol,” a Durham staple, will host a five-day six-performance run from Wednesday, Dec. 10 to Sunday, Dec. 14. Ira David Wood III’s adaptation of the Charles Dickens novel of the same name is celebrating over 50 years of performances. Wood, who previously played the lead role of Ebenezer Scrooge, has passed the torch to his son, Ira David Wood IV.
Following “A Christmas Carol,” the Broadway musical, “Water for Elephants,” comes to DPAC. Coming to Durham on Dec. 16 and running for eight shows through Dec. 21, the musical is an adaptation of a 2006 novel of the same name by Sara Gruen. The novel was also adapted as a feature film in 2011, starring Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon.
Finally, the musical adaptation of the Harry Potter story, “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child,” will bring DPAC through the New Year. Arriving on Dec. 28, the show will run for 17 performances through Jan.11.
