CARLISLE, Pa. (WHTM) — Without a fourth generation ready to take over, it was the end of the road for 85-year-old, three-generation Cole’s Bicycles — until it wasn’t.
Cinda Cole Shannon’s grandfather opened the shop in 1940, renting World War II-era bikes for 25 cents per hour. She and her husband Kevin Shannon don’t have any children, and her brother Mike Cole’s children — he also ran the store with them — are already settled in other professions.
