Alabama K9 officer to receive body armor

K9 Macs, a dual-purpose dog with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Metro Area Crime Suppression Unit, will soon receive a bullet and stab protective vest thanks to a donation from Vested Interest in K9s, Inc.

The vest, sponsored by the nonprofit, will be embroidered with the message, “This gift of protection provided by Vested Interest in K9s, Inc.” Delivery is expected within ten weeks.

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., a charity founded in 2009, aims to provide protective vests and other assistance to law enforcement dogs across the U.S. The organization has supplied over 6,225 vests valued at $6.9 million to K9s in all 50 states. The program is open to U.S. dogs at least 20 months old, actively employed, and certified with law enforcement or related agencies. K9s with expired vests are also eligible…
