Enter Sandman: Renourishment set to begin in North Myrtle

Beach renourishment in North Myrtle Beach is set to begin.

The $72 million project paid for by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will replenish sand on 26 miles of beach in the Grand Strand, with work beginning on the North Strand.

Dredging equipment will be installed beginning Thursday, Dec. 11 and continuing through Monday, Dec. 15.

Work will be visible on the north end starting on Monday, Dec. 15. It is to be done in 1,000-yard segments and will be performed around the clock. Safety barriers and signage will clearly mark closed areas. Pipelines running alongside the beach outside the fenced area can be crossed where the contractor places crossover sand ramps over the pipes…
