2 teens in hospital after kayak hit by powerboat in St. Lucie County

FORT PIERCE, Fla. (CBS12) — Two teenagers were taken to the hospital after the Kayak they were operating was struck by a powerboat on Saturday.

According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), at about 6 p.m., officers responded to a boating crash near the North Causeway Bridge in the city of Fort Pierce.

The FWC’s investigation revealed that two teenagers, ages 16 and 17, were traveling in an unlit Kayak traveling under the North Causeway Bridge. Around the same time, a powerboat carrying two people was traveling east under the same bridge…
