Folsom man charged with gun possession in school zones released on federal bail

FOLSOM, Calif. — A Folsom man arrested on federal charges of having a gun in a school zone was released on a federal bail of $50,000, according to court documents.

Curt Taras was taken into custody after police said he had a gun at Folsom High School in September. Folsom police also arrested him separately in October after he was allegedly seen on the grounds of Sandra J. Gallardo Elementary School in a case unrelated to the high school incident.

Court documents show Taras’ release requires him to be in the custody of the U.S. Veterans Administration in Oregon, where he’ll stay at a residential mental health facility until completing the program. Afterward, he’ll live with his mother and wear an ankle monitor…
