San Diego police arrest pair in string of armed spa robberies using license plate tech

SAN DIEGO — San Diego police say a man and woman are in custody after a string of armed robberies targeting massage businesses across the city over the past week.

According to SDPD, the robberies happened between Nov. 29 and Dec. 5, when the pair allegedly walked into three separate spas, pointed a gun at employees and demanded cash before taking off.

Investigators say they tied the suspects to the crimes with help from the department’s Automated License Plate Recognition system. Robbery detectives, along with officers from the Special Operations Unit, tracked down the suspects on Dec. 6 and arrested them without incident.
