Two appear in court as proceedings continue in “The Pit” mass shooting case

Court proceedings are ongoing for Joshua Hunter McCullogh and Silas McCay, who appeared in court Tuesday in connection with the October mass shooting at “The Pit” that killed Cleveland High School senior Kimber Mills and injured three others.

McCullogh’s pretrial hearing is set for Feb. 25, while McCay’s trial is scheduled for Feb. 24. Both face third-degree assault charges. They were arrested at the end of October and bonded out of jail on $6,000 each. McCay was also injured in the Oct. 19 shooting at the popular Pinson gathering spot.

Deputies responded to the 7900 block of Highway 75 North at 12:24 a.m. on Oct. 19 after reports of multiple people being shot. Authorities found three victims with gunshot wounds: a 21-year-old male, an 18-year-old male, and an 18-year-old female.
