Erie police seek vehicle after bicyclist dies following westside crash

Erie police are searching for a sport-utility vehicle involved in a hit-and-run accident at a westside intersection Dec. 9 that led to the death of the bicyclist.

A 66-year-old man who was on a bicycle was struck by a vehicle at West Eighth and Liberty streets in an accident that was reported at 6:53 p.m. Dec. 9, police reported Dec. 10. The bicyclist, whose name was not released, was taken to UPMC Hamot and was pronounced dead there at 7:50 p.m., according to police and the Erie County Coroner’s Office.

The vehicle involved in the accident, described by police as a red or orange SUV, fled the area. Police said they were still searching for it Dec. 10…
