Walker denies condo project after neighbors refuse to share road access

Plans to build 30 accessible condominiums for seniors and people with disabilities in Walker have stalled after neighboring homeowners refused to share road access and left the developers without a required second entrance for emergency vehicles.

The Walker Planning Commission voted 6-1 on Dec. 3 to deny a preliminary area site plan for the 30-unit Windermere Condominiums project proposed in May on 8.55 acres at 1204 4 Mile Road NW, at the southwest corner of 4 Mile Road and Alpine Avenue NW.
