Louisville to Host Reintroduction of Justice for Breonna Taylor Act, Aiming to Ban No-Knock Warrants Nationwide

Kentucky Representative Morgan McGarvey plans to reintroduce the Justice for Breonna Taylor Act. This bill would ban no-knock warrants nationwide. McGarvey announced the plan on December 8, 2025. The formal reintroduction is set for December 10 in Louisville. The bill is named after Breonna Taylor, who was killed by Louisville Metro Police during a raid in 2020. It aims to expand Kentucky’s ban on no-knock warrants to the federal level.

McGarvey noted bipartisan support for the bill. He pointed to Kentucky’s law as a possible model for the country. At the announcement in Louisville, he will be joined by Breonna Taylor’s mother, Tamika Palmer. Senators Rand Paul and Cory Booker, and Representatives Yvette Clarke and Jasmine Crockett, will also attend.
