A 64-year-old Nashville man lost his life after being hit by a vehicle while crossing Haywood Lane near I-24 on Sunday evening. According to the Nashville Police Department, the incident occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m., as the man walked into the path of an oncoming 2025 Nissan Altima.
The driver of the vehicle, a 21-year-old, reportedly continued to a nearby Walgreens after the collision. Parking his car, he then returned on foot to speak with the police officers who arrived at the scene. The victim, whose name is currently withheld until his next of kin can be notified, was pronounced dead at the location of the accident. There have been no indications of impairment on behalf of the driver, who cooperated with the authorities following the tragic event.
Police findings revealed that there was evidence of alcohol involvement, not with the driver, but on the part of the pedestrian.
