San Diego County Secures $12 Million Grant to Support Local Homeless Housing and Prevention Programs

On November 25, 2025, the San Diego County Board of Supervisors accepted a $12 million state grant. The funds will support local homeless housing assistance and prevention programs. This grant is part of the sixth round of the Homeless Housing Assistance and Prevention initiative. It will help maintain county programs that provide emergency and permanent housing support.

Dijana Beck, director of the county’s office of homeless solutions, said the funds will help San Diegans move toward stable and permanent housing. The Regional Homeless Assistance Program uses local hotels for emergency housing. It currently serves up to 250 households each night. Since 2020, the program has helped over 2,700 people. About 40% of those have moved to permanent housing.

The Local Rental Subsidy Program provides rental assistance and stabilization services to more than 100 households. It has served over 300 families in total.
