A local teenager is making a big impact in the fight against hunger with a unique hot cocoa fundraiser. Emile Myers, 15, of Lafayette, has been hosting this event for several years, raising significant funds for various causes. Myers’s initiative began seven years ago when he was inspired by a neighbor’s Christmas light show. He set up a hot cocoa bar in his family’s driveway, raising $2,000 for St. Joseph’s Diner initially. Over the years, the fundraiser grew, collecting $5,000, $7,500, $14,000, $15,000, $21,000, and $37,000 for various causes. Now, Myers has raised and donated $100,000 in total.
