Renowned NYC chef stops by Charleston shelter to serve lunch to unhoused

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — A renowned chef out of New York City helped serve a hot lunch to more than 100 people at a downtown Charleston shelter on Wednesday afternoon.

Daniel Humm is the chef at Eleven Madison Park in New York City and currently has a residency at Charleston Place Hotel.

“When I started getting into cooking, I wanted to be the best and have the best restaurants, and eventually more and more of those things started to happen,” he said. “But there was also a kind of emptiness that came with it; There was a missing piece.”…
