Fayetteville City Council Approves 84 New Affordable Apartments on Murchison Road

On November 24, 2025, the Fayetteville City Council in North Carolina authorized City Manager Douglas J. Hewett to move forward with an option purchase agreement for an 84-unit attainable housing project. The development, called Central Park Villas, will be located on the City’s Catalyst I site, a 6.32-acre parcel at the southern end of the Murchison Road corridor. The project is a partnership between JBS Developers, LLC and the Fayetteville Metropolitan Housing Authority (FMHA).

Central Park Villas is planned to offer affordable, garden-style apartments for low- and moderate-income households. The site has been vacant for several years. It is located near Fayetteville State University and public transit routes. City officials state that the project is intended to provide new housing and support community development. Mayor Mitch Colvin said the development will provide homes for working families and support local neighborhoods and businesses.

Under the agreement, the developers have an exclusive option to buy the property for $545,000. This price was set by independent and city-commissioned appraisals.
