MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The DeSoto County District Attorney’s Office announced Wednesday it is launching a campaign for Memphis criminals to stay out of DeSoto County.
“Over the last several years, DeSoto County has experienced a significant number of criminals coming from Memphis with the sole purpose of committing residential and commercial crime,” the district attorney’s office said in a news release. “They are accustomed to the soft-on-crime policies in our neighboring county, but that is not the case here.”
The D.A.’s office said that criminals from Memphis contribute to over 30% of felonies in DeSoto County.
The district attorney’s office said there will be billboards along I-55 and soon to be near popular shopping areas with the message “turn back now” in large capital letters, and above that, it will say “Memphis Criminals,” and underneath, it will say”Prison Awaits You in DeSoto County.”…
