A federal grand jury in Birmingham has charged Xiebin Xue, a 40-year-old Chinese national, with possessing counterfeit gift cards, U.S. Attorney Prim F. Escalona announced.
The one-count indictment, filed in U.S. District Court, accuses Xue of possessing 15 or more counterfeit or unauthorized access devices.
According to the indictment, on Jan. 10, 2024, Xue was found with at least 33 gift cards re-encoded with different card numbers than those printed on the cards, and at least two gift cards with fake bar code labels that did not match the printed and encoded numbers…
