One person arrested following armed standoff in Tennessee

TENNESSEE — A Mosheim man was taken into custody Tuesday evening after police say he barricaded himself inside a home following a reported burglary and theft of firearms.

According to the Mosheim Police Department, officers responded to the 7100 block of Blue Springs Parkway shortly after 4:30 p.m. for reports that 38-year-old Chad Eric Hefner had broken into the residence and taken several guns. A witness told police Hefner had been drinking and using narcotics, and claimed he “was going to kill people,” according to a department news release.

Police said Hefner refused to leave the residence and barricaded himself inside. Officers attempted to negotiate with him, but were unsuccessful. During the standoff, Hefner allegedly broke a window, threw items outside, screamed at officers, and gunshots were heard from inside the home…
