Freezing fog causes crashes in Myrtle Beach area. Even colder weather is coming

The Myrtle Beach area saw several crashes early Wednesday morning as temperatures dropped into the low 20s and brought freezing fog.

Crashes were reported along the S.C. 544 bridge crossing the Intracoastal Waterway which closed lanes of traffic and caused delays.

Horry County Fire Rescue responded to several crashes in the Socastee area at about 6:47 a.m., according to the agency’s Facebook post. The crashes were likely caused by ice, the post said. One person was transported to the hospital with injuries…
