Folsom Police to purchase 2 new motorcycles through cannabis grant

FOLSOM — The Folsom Police Department will soon add two new BMW police motorcycles to its fleet following City Council approval Tuesday night, a move funded almost entirely through a state Cannabis Tax Fund Grant intended to strengthen impaired-driving enforcement and road safety initiatives.

The council authorized the City Manager to execute an agreement with Long Beach BMW for the $84,199.32 purchase. The acquisition includes $84,000 covered by the California Highway Patrol Cannabis Tax Fund Grant and an additional $199.32 coming from the city’s Police Capital Vehicle Fund. According to the staff report presented to the council, contracts of this size require approval under Section 2.36.080 of the Folsom Municipal Code.
