Rockford man sentenced to 15 years in prison for selling handgun to informant

ROCKFORD, Ill (WTVO) — A Rockford man was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison on Tuesday, Dec. 9, for illegally possessing a firearm as a felon.

Authorities say Timothy Gentry, 47, admitted in a plea that on July 6, 2023, he sold a loaded handgun to a man in Rockford. Gentry, unknowingly sold the handgun to a man working with law enforcement.
