Spring ISD to close 2 schools after losing over $13 million in federal funding, district says

Two Spring ISD schools won’t be reopening for the 2026-27 school year, the school district announced.

At its December board meeting, after several months of reviewing the District Optimization Plan, the Spring ISD Board of Trustees voted to close Link Elementary School and Dueitt Middle School starting next school year, according to Spring ISD.

Board President Justine Durant said the decision was part of a larger response plan and was made because the district lost over $13 million in federal funding, enrollment has declined, and the schools are running at about 60% capacity…
