A local bookstore is unlocking a new physical media level by bringing back a familiar business that has exited the mainstream — and everywhere else.
Bookmarx, located at 325 E Walnut St., will be opening Mr. Googorium’s Movie Emporium, a video rental store, on March 24, 2026.
Arnett says the “crazy” name is in honor of the store’s late beloved cat, Googey, who won Captain Springfield in 2023.

Despite physical media sales declining for multiple years, Arnett thinks that the store will be successful being paired with the bookstore as a dual income company.
The two stores, located in the same building, will provide a wide selection of books and movies for visitors to choose from.
