Albuquerque man pleads guilty to 2024 murder

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – An Albuquerque man pleaded guilty to second-degree murder on Tuesday after chasing down his victim. Aldo Muñoz was arrested in 2024 for shooting a man outside a northeast heights apartment complex. When police arrived at the scene near Menaul Boulevard and Juan Tabo Boulevard, they found Fabian Romero dead.

Investigators said the incident began when the victim showed up at his ex-girlfriend’s apartment, who had a restraining order against him. From there, the situation escalated with Muñoz and three others, including a 17-year-old boy, chasing after Romero and shooting him. All four were charged with homicide.

The other defendants in the case have not been sentenced. According to Muñoz’s plea deal, he will spend 12 years behind bars, followed by eight years of probation…
