Man sentenced to 14 years in prison on weapons charges in East Greenbush

TROY, NY — A man was sentenced to 14 years in state prison Friday after pleading guilty to possessing a loaded assault weapon in the Town of East Greenbush.

Kenneth Phelan was sentenced by Judge Young after pleading guilty to the entire indictment charging Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, a class C violent felony, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree – Assault Weapon and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree – High-capacity magazine, both Class D violent felonies.

Phelan was arrested by the East Greenbush Police Department on Nov. 11, 2024, on River Road after a confrontation with a property owner regarding Phelan target shooting on the property without permission…
