Final settlement reached in 2023 wrongful death of Folly Beach bride

FOLLY BEACH, S.C. (WCSC) — A Circuit Court judge approved the final hearing of the DUI crash that killed a newlywed bride and injured three others.

The newlywed bride, Samantha Miller, was riding away from her reception when a drunk driver, Jamie Komoroski, slammed into the couple’s golf cart, which killed her and injured her husband, Aric Hutchinson and two relatives on April 28, 2023.

Hutchinson sued Komoroski and several Folly Beach bars, including Crab Shack, the Drop-In Bar and Deli and Snapper Jacks.

Taco Boy, who was the place where she was employed at the time, was dropped from the lawsuit after the groom alleged that she was pressured to participate in a work function earlier in the evening of the crash, in which there was excessive drinking despite Taco Boy claiming she did not step into the business that day.

Her insurance provider says they will pay $160,000, with more than $104,000 going to Hutchinson. The settlements with the bars totaled more than $863,000…
