OAKLAND TWP., Pa. (EYT) — A 75-year-old man was airlifted to a Pittsburgh hospital on Monday morning after a single-vehicle crash on Route 68, during which his vehicle struck a utility pole and then a tree, according to state police.
According to a report from the Butler-based State Police, the incident occurred on Chicora Road (Route 68) at 10:36 a.m. on December 8, about 568 feet north of Saint Joe Road in Oakland Towsnhip, Butler County. The roadway was dry, and conditions were clear at the time of the crash, police said.
The driver, identified as Frederick L. Rupp of Chicora, was traveling southbound on Chicora Road when his 2017 Subaru Forester left the roadway, police said. It first struck a mailbox, continued off the west side of the road, and hit a West Penn Power utility pole.
