16-story Wilson Street apartments greenlighted

The proposed 16-story apartment complex on West Wilson Street has been given the all-clear.

Plans for a 320 “micro unit” apartment with no on-site parking from the Torque Companies were approved at the Plan Commission on Dec. 1 by a 6-2 vote.

“I only want to do this project to create more affordable housing downtown for those that otherwise couldn’t afford to live there, but want to live there or need to live there because that’s where their employment is,” Torque Companies CEO Randy Alexander said during a Nov. 3 meeting Plan Commission meeting. “And there are huge numbers of people now that don’t own a car, don’t want to own a car or can’t afford a car.”…
