SUN: 8 indicted after raids tied to Penn North mass overdoses

Eight people have been named in indictments alleging drug offenses amid a probe of mass overdoses in Baltimore’s Penn North neighborhood that hospitalized dozens of people in July and October.

Five of the people — a 32-year-old man, two teenagers and two people whose court cases were not available as of Thursday — were named in indictments handed up by a Baltimore City grand jury in early November that refer to the mass overdoses. Three more people were indicted Monday on drug charges also tied to a series of Nov. 12 raids that Baltimore Police said were connected to their probe of the mass overdoses.

Police and prosecutors did not immediately respond to questions about how the cases were believed to be associated with the mass overdoses. Court documents do not directly accuse any of the defendants of dealing the “bad batch” that caused 27 people to overdose on July 10…
