Charlotte’s $3.4M PR deal after rail stabbings draws scrutiny

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A new $3.4 million contract between the city and a communications firm is drawing mixed reactions as the city grapples with another seemingly random stabbing attack on Charlotte’s light rail late last week. The suspect, Oscar Solarzano, remains in jail without bond.

The firm, Sherry Matthews, has been tasked with improving public perception of Charlotte’s transit system. Sherry Matthews has previously worked with New York City after 9/11 to improve public confidence and with Detroit to overcome years of urban decay.
