Virginia teachers vacancy rates are dropping

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – The Virginia Department of Education found that teacher vacancies decreased 35.9% statewide since 2023.

Charlottesville City Schools has experienced the same decreases in unfilled teaching positions.

“Schools have done some very deliberate efforts and campaigns within the school,” Charlottesville City Schools Human Resources Director Maria Lewis said. “Those things coupled together with not having the need to fill in at another spot or sub for another teacher, all of those things come together to increase moral within the schools.”…
