UK police, cheerleaders parade thousands of donated toys to Golisano Children’s Hospital

LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — The UK police and the UK cheerleaders got into the holiday spirit in a big way on Thursday morning. They rolled down Rose Street, leading a “Parade of Toys” straight to Golisano Children’s Hospital at UK.

It’s all part of the ninth annual “Cram the Cruiser” toy drive—plus an extra set of donations collected in memory of Lexington native and Iraq War veteran Jonathan Ard.

Chief Joe Monroe, who most people that day would recognize as “Chief Santa,” actually grew out his beard for most of the year just to play the part.
