Montgomery Public Schools unveils new strategic plan to expand magnet programs and career pathways

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – Montgomery Public Schools on Thursday unveiled “Vision 2026,” a districtwide plan Superintendent Dr. Zickeyous Byrd says will reshape how students learn and prepare for college and careers.

Speaking six months into his tenure, Byrd presented the new direction at the Montgomery Public Schools Leadership Center before a room of students, educators and community leaders. “Montgomery, our moment is now,” Byrd said. “We are a district on the rise driven by educators, inspired students and a community that believes in the power of public education.”

Key elements of the plan include expanding magnet programming across the district, converting Carver Elementary into a full magnet school and establishing two magnet programs on the Park Crossing campus.
