Suspects in hazing death of Southern University student formally charged

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Suspects were indicted Wednesday in connection with the hazing death of Southern University student Caleb Wilson.

According to court records, 29-year-old Isaiah Smith, 25-year-old Kyle Thurman, and 24-year-old Caleb McCray were officially charged in the alleged hazing death of Wilson, 20.

Initially, McCray was charged with manslaughter, Thurman was charged with three counts of felony obstruction of justice, and Smith was charged with principal to manslaughter and felony obstruction of justice. All three were also charged with principal to felony hazing…
