“This was an honest mistake”: Baker school leader addresses how loaded handgun entered campus

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – For the first time, Baker school leaders are explaining how a loaded handgun ended up inside Baker High School this week, an incident that led to an employee’s arrest and firing and raised concerns about campus security.

Leaders from the charter group Helix Community Schools, which took over the Baker School System this summer to improve low academic performance, spoke about the incident during a community meeting on Thursday, Dec. 11.
