On November 26, 2025, Washington, DC Mayor Muriel Bowser stated her opposition to Section 373 of the Fiscal Year 2026 National Defense Authorization Act. This section would allow increased military use of DC’s airspace. Bowser cited safety concerns after a fatal crash over the Potomac River in January.
