Police cite drivers after two Caldwell students hit while walking to school

CALDWELL, Idaho (CBS2) — The Caldwell Police Department responded to two incidents on Monday and Tuesday in which students were struck by vehicles while walking in a crosswalk on the way to school. Injuries were serious but non-life-threatening. The drivers in both incidents were cited.

The department also left several students, parents and drivers to prevent further injuries.

For Students and Parents:

  • Use crosswalks and avoid stepping into the roadway between parked cars.
  • Make eye contact with drivers before crossing; don’t assume a vehicle sees you.
  • Stay alert. Keep your phone down and earbuds out.
  • Wear bright or reflective clothing on dark mornings.

Parents: Please take a moment to talk with your children about safe walking habits…
