The Emma Edwards Green Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), based in Meridian, will be hosting a Wreaths Across America ceremony for the first time at Kleiner Park’s Rock of Honor Veterans Memorial on Saturday.
Every December, thousands of Wreaths Across America ceremonies are held at cemeteries and veterans monuments in all 50 states, plus Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C. and dozens of American overseas cemeteries.
Launched in 1992, the annual holiday tradition sees live balsam wreaths placed on graves of and memorials to fallen service members. At Kleiner Park, DAR members will place eight wreaths on the memorial, to honor the six branches of the U.S. military, Merchant Marines and prisoners of war…
