Date set for second settlement hearing in NAACP Boulder County lawsuit

A date for the second settlement conference in the NAACP’s lawsuit against 14 people, most of whom are former executive members of the embattled Boulder County branch, is set for Feb. 18 2026.

The national NAACP is suing 13 former executives of the local branch in Sheila Davis, John Howell, Velveta Golightly-Howell, Judy Huston, Annett James, Gabriela Kioupakis, Judith Landsman, Louisa Matthias, Darren O’Connor, Lawrence Pevec, Veronica Sommers, Glenda Strong-Robinson and Madelyn Woodley. An unnamed attorney is also being sued.

The former local branch executives are alleged to have engaged “in a campaign of misinformation and disparagement” against the organization, according to the lawsuit. The suit stems from the attempt to dissolve the branch earlier this year. The NAACP says the executive members did not have that authority. The unnamed attorney is accused of possessing the branch’s financial assets, which include $77,000 in deposits and Google stocks valued at $25,000 as of December 2024…
